The groove on this song is beyond the beyond....,so glad you broke it down. Triplets are the key...,playing three in the time of four

For Example 1, I say that both halves of the bar are the same...they are not. My point was that any bar of 12/8 could be written as two bars of 6/8, so please do not be confused by that. It's just a counting and notation thing. Whether played as one bar of 12/8 or split into two bars of 6/8, the drum part would sound exactly the same.

On 3:54 I simplify with removing the bass drum beat on the e of 1 and a of 2. It sounds like 1 +a2e+ 3e+a4e+ (4e+ is flam bass flam). That part is tricky to get right because it feels like you’re playing polyrhythms.
